“We chose Bornholm because we love it here. We are always calming down on the island and manage to relax in this beautiful nature. I’m coming here for 40 years now and Corina for 9 years. Wedding on the Rocks’ website was so stunning and the option to get married in the nature was the point in choosing the island for our wedding celebration,” they told us when we asked them about their choice of wedding location. “Now our best Memory of Bornholm is the whole wedding day because it was just perfect. The weather, the locations , the people as well as the food and drinks provided. All the guests were truly satisfied.”

Where on Bornholm Did Julia and Corina Get Married?

Julia and Corina chose the beautiful Klympen aka Hasle Beach in the west of Bornholm as the dream location for their wedding ceremony. The beach area is located close to a convenient parking lot offering plenty of space for even a large wedding party. The car park is also equipped with toilets, which should come in handy at a wedding reception with many guests.

A beautiful wooded walk gives the opportunity for a grand entrance to the location of the ceremony. Klympen Beach offers the best of nature on Bornholm, with woods and sandy beach in equal measures. As is common on Bornholm, the weather was beautiful and the breeze from the sea added freshness and a very special atmosphere to the wedding celebration. “The location was perfect and couldn’t have been any better”, Julia and Corina said about their choice in terms of wedding location.

How It All Happened

Julia and Corina arrived with a large group of wedding guests on Bornholm, who all were happy to share the big day with the lovely couple. Our wedding planners in Wedding on the Rocks did deal with the paperwork of the couple beforehand. This was to ensure that the marriage also would be legally valid in Germany. We also in cooperation with the couple chose exactly the right spot for the ceremony on Klympen Beach and decorated it to make everything look perfect on the day. “There’s nothing we can say that was negative or bad on the day. You can see the experience Wedding on the Rocks has with wedding planning and the heart they put into it, which shows how much they love what they do”, the couple said.

The Wedding Ceremony

This stunning wedding started by Corina and Julia walking down the natural ‘aisle’ of Klympen Beach, observed by their wedding guests. On the beach, they were met by the registrar beneath a beautifully decorated wedding gate, according to Danish traditions. The flowers for the decorations and bridal bouquet were chosen by the couple beforehand in cooperation with a florist provided by Wedding on the Rocks. The floral decorations were all grown locally on the island to strict organic standards.

The local registrar arrived from the registry office in Rønne, which can provide English, German and obviously Danish speaking civil servants for weddings. In Julia and Corina’s case, the ceremony was held in the German language and therefore easy to follow by not only the couple, but also their guests. If you wish to get married in an English or German language ceremony, please let our wedding planners know well in advance so we can book the appropriate registrar to suit your needs.

After the wedding ceremony followed the party on the beach. Our wedding planners organized the caterers for the Julia and Corina’s wedding. The couple decided upon a traditional Danish “Smørrebrød” buffet, which was presented to their guests under a gazebo slightly above the beach. While dining, the guests were presented with a stunning view on the Baltic Sea. At the same time, they were protected from the unwelcome taste of sand between their teeth. The food for the buffet was provided by local caterers and came from local sources.

This includes, but is not limited to, Danish open-faced sandwich buffets, picnics on the beach, traditional wedding banquets, set menus etc. Vegetarian and vegan options will always be available, as are traditional Danish or international cuisines.
